Interview: With Piaget Global CEO Chabi Nouri

“As an example, we used a strong … cobalt alloy to manufacture the watch, as gold [traditionally the case material of choice for ultra-thin watches] would have been too malleable for such a thin case, but it is more difficult to work with. Used in other industries, such as aerospace, prosthetics, automotive, or industrial equipment, cobalt is hardly used, if at all, in the watchmaking industry. Piaget not only offers a watch of 2mm [thickness] to its clients,” she adds, “but also you can choose the color of the bridges, the screws, the hands, the case, and even engrave initials … [there are] more than 10,000 possibilities.”
